Richard Lee Hutchens was born September 12th, 1952 in Houston Texas, to Gerald and Sue Hutchens. He married his childhood sweetheart, Debbie Hutchens in 1971. He loved Debbie more than anything in the world. Together they had four children that were his life, along with his wife, Debbie. He began working for WPI as a Mechanics Helper as a teenager, working his way up to Branch Manager in Austin, Texas. He retired from WPI after being diagnosed with cancer, which he battled for 2 ½ years, never letting it slow him down. He was the strongest man and fought like hell until the day he passed. Rick passed on June 21st, 2019 surrounded by his family at his home in Georgetown Texas.
Over the years, Rick and Debbie’s family grew to include their children’s spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Rick loved everyone equally with all of his heart and his entire family loved him with all their hearts. Family always came first to Rick and he was always there when you needed him most. If something was broke and Rick heard about it, he would make sure it got fixed. The man could fix anything.
Rick enjoyed spending time outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish but most of all, he loved the comradery of being with his friends and family telling story after story after story. He loved family cookouts, sitting around the fire pit listening to his favorite music and plucking on his guitar. Rick was an honest man and could always be trusted. A friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. You always knew where you stood with Rick. Rick also enjoyed being a member of the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge.
Rick is survived by his wife, Debbie and four children, John Cord and wife Nikkii, Jason Roger and wife Mitzi, Richard Lucas and wife Sarah, Amy Lynn and husband Mike; grandchildren, Darren, Valerie and husband James, Rochelle, Jacob and fiancée Joleen, Kelsey, Natalie, Riley, Jackson, Conner, Matthew, Ashton, and Megan; great grandchildren, Beau and Stephanie; brother, Farrell; sisters, Sheryl and Teri; and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Sue, brother Johnny and nephew Walter.
Dad will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was the original intimidator, the “fixer” and the man but most importantly he was a loving husband, our Dad, our Papa, our teacher, our mentor and our best friend. All the laughs shared, memories made, and love created will carry us forward until we meet him again. Dad will be with us always.

The family will receive guests for a time of visitation from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in the chapel of Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home. Interment will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown, Texas.
