

Shirley Ann McGowen Fautheree passed away on November 26, 2021 at 2pm at the age of 84 in Georgetown, Texas. She was born July 26, 1937 in Winnsboro, Louisiana to Thomas and Martelle McGowen but and grew up in Monroe, Louisiana. She graduated from Ouchita High School in 1955. She married Huey P. Fautheree, her high school sweetheart, on June 23, 1956 in Monroe, Louisiana and has been married for 65 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents (Thomas and Martelle McGowen) and brother Thomas Eugene McGowen. She is survived by her husband, Huey; daughter, Janice Ulmer (husband Stephen Ulmer); and sons, David Fautheree and John Fautheree. She was also a loving grandmother to Christelyn Harrison (husband Brian), Steven Fautheree and Russell Fautheree and great-grandmother to Mila Harrison. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Lockwood (husband Bobby Lockwood) and Eddie McGowen. Shirley will be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews and friends.
She retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Antonio with 33 years of civil service. In her adult life, she has lived in Georgia, Germany, Virginia, Italy and Texas. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. While living in San Antonio, she was involved in activities with the Daughters of Republic of Texas. She also volunteered at Fiesta in San Antonio. Her other interests include playing Bunco, Canasta and Pinochle with her friends. While living in Georgetown, she belonged to a Women of Words book club for 15 years and was involved with Friends of the Library. Shirley enjoyed going to Canton and Round Top for antiques. Her favorite pass time was reading a good book.
A visitation for Shirley will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 PM.
