William "Bill" J. McAfee, 88, Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home on Monday, January 24, 2011. He was born in Bedford, Indiana to Lawrence Tilford and Mabel Sherrill McAfee on February 24, 1922.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maxine McAfee; son, William L. McAfee and wife Shelley of Austin, Texas; and daughter, Marilyn Baugh of Austin, Texas.
Bill was in the 1940 graduating class of Shawswick High School and was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Pacific Arena from 1942 to 1945. He worked at Cook Heat Treating – Lindberg Steel as a metallurgist for 38 years. Bill and Maxine moved from Houston, Texas to Georgetown, Texas for retirement in 1986, they have been members of the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, for over 24 years. He worked at the local car wash “Wash Across Texas” for his son for many years.
In addition to his wife, son and daughter, he is survived by his grandsons, Chris Bradford and wife Lenny of Austin, Texas, William “Patrick” McAfee of Alpine, Texas and Ryan McAfee of Austin, Texas; nieces, Cynthia Harris and husband Verlan of The Woodlands, Texas, Jan Rodery and husband Vince of Oklahoma, Cathy Williams of Indiana, and Judy Hagerthy and husband Ron of Corona Del Mar, California; and nephews, Tommy Cary and wife Joy of Houston, Texas Mark McAfee and wife Nancy of Illinois, and Ron Marsch of South Carolina.
A visitation will be held at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas on Friday, January 28, 2011, from six to eight o’clock in the evening. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Georgetown, on Saturday January 29, 2011 at eleven thirty in the morning with a graveside service to follow.
