

William Slade Sullivan, 44, of Florence, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2014 from 3PM to 5PM at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel, 393 North IH 35, Georgetown, TX. Interment will be private. Honoring Slade as pallbearers will be: Bob Wigington, Shane Wigington, David Stone, Ron Reid, Bret Adams and Miguel Olada. Slade was born January 14, 1970 in Columbus, Georgia. After moving to Texas with his parents, he grew up in Georgetown and graduated in the class of 1988 from Jarrell High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1988 where he served honorably during Operation Desert Storm. He was discharged in 1994 as a disabled veteran due to injuries sustained during his tour of duty. After being discharged he opened a collectibles store in Georgetown. When an offer of employment came from Dell, Slade closed the store in Georgetown. He was with Dell until 2001 and then went to Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, graduating with a B.S. degree in Marine Biology in 2005. When his dad passed in 2007, he took over the operation of the Sullivan Ranch with the help of family friends Bob Wigington and Miguel Olada. In his spare time he enjoyed hockey, football and playing fantasy football. He will fondly be remembered as an awesome, caring soul who never met a stranger. Slade is preceded in death by: his grandparents: Herbert and Irene Sullivan and William and Sarah Claus; and his father, Fred Sullivan. He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his mother, Rosemary Sullivan; one aunt and three cousins; and his dogs: Chewy, Roscoe and Sherri.
