At his request, cremation has taken place and services will be held at a later date. Fond memories and condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com. Gering Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
He was born in Gering, Nebraska to Conrad and Margaret (Himburche) Hamburg. Daniel was one of their 17 children.
He attended school in Gering and then proudly joined the 82nd Airborne Division, following in a path of military service of many of his brothers before him.
In October of 1956, he started what would be a 53 year career at Great Western/Western Sugar Company, where he spent decades as a Beet End Foreman.
He married Ruth Schick in April 1958 and to this union three children were born: Diana Fischbach (Hamburg) of Golden, Colorado, John Hamburg of Ft. Collins, Colorado and Jason Hamburg of Evergreen, Colorado.
Most of you probably remember Dan as the funny ol’guy trying to still work on his roof at 80, or crashing his grocery cart into the donut rack at the local grocery store. ~ He will be missed!
