Jeanette H. “Jan” Libsack, 76, of Gering: her precious soul has finally lost the battle with Parkinson’s disease. She passed away on Monday, August 26, 2019 at Pathways Hospice Care Center in Loveland, Colorado. Her Graveside Funeral Service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, August 30, 2019 at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering with Pastor Al Wilson officiating. Memorials may be given to Pathways Hospice Care Center 2000 North Boise Ave Loveland, CO 80538. Online condolences may be left at www.geringchapel.com

Our mom was born February 11, 1943 at Scottsbluff, Nebraska to Elmer and Helen (Bruntz) Schilreff. She received her education in Gering, graduating from Gering High School with the Class of 1961. She started working at a young age as a carhop at the Arrowhead Restaurant where she used her tip money to buy her a 1955 Ford, which was gunmetal grey with lakers. She was very proud of that car! Here is where she met Terry Libsack whom she married on November 6, 1965 at Scottsbluff, NE.

Mom had a great work ethic, she worked throughout the area at the following places: The Spur Café, $.88 Store, Green Stamp Store, Tempo (18 years) and McCosh Drug (18 years). She loved to be around people and decorate for all the holidays. She retired early to take care of her husband and mother. Mom always took care of someone else before herself. She was the kindest soul you would ever meet.

She was a member of the American Legion in Gering. She loved to go snowmobiling, playing Keno, gambling, watching NASCAR Racing on Sundays and watching the Young and The Restless soap opera. She really loved spending time with her children, especially during the holiday, as this was her favorite time of year.

Jan is survived by her son Terrance Libsack of Gering; daughter and son-in-law Shan and Wade Olsen of Gering; an uncle; and aunt; a niece; nephews; and numerous cousins.

Jan was preceded in death by her infant brother, her parents, her in-laws, her husband Terry, and sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Roger Grasmick.

She lost the battle but she gave it a heck of a good fight!!

To the family of Jan Libsack, Recall all the wonderful moments in life with her. Celebrate her life, just as she would love to celebrate the Holiday's. Remember all the important times, she shared with you, in her life, expressing her joy and love of life and how beautiful love, for one another, can be shared together.
I met Jan when she and Terry had their small children at a family gathering for the Holidays. I baby sat for them and other family members that gathered with them, for celebration.
Jan was a warm hearted lady that showed you how she cared for your friendship in life. Now she is a Guardian Angel to many.
May you find all the many blessings she brought to you in life.
Always continue to Celebrate Her Life each day you can.
May God Bless Jan Libsack and her family as they gather again.
True and Sincere love to each of you.

I am sorry to hear of Jan's passing. I lived across the street from her during our high school years at the time she drove a cool 52 Chevy hardtop coupe. One night we and another couple were cruising around in her car west of Gering we ran out of gas and it was past Jan's curfew.
I was walking back to town and experienced one of my most scariest moments of my life along came her Dad looking for her knowing she was with me and he not liking me much, I was a 17 year old boy and he had a beautiful daughter, he stops and says "GET IN" . He asked where is Jan I told we ran out of gas and where he never said another word just went and got some gas took us to the car got it started and told us to get home and drove off. He wasn't as bad as my mind told me at the time.
Jan and I continued to date until I enlisted in the Navy. I even took some unauthorize leave one time to come back to see her. After that we lost touch but I fondly remember her and what a kind person she was to me.
She lives on in her children's hearts.

Terrence and Shannon - I was so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. Know she'd been dealing with her Parkinson's for several years now. Your mom was always so nice to everyone she met. Scott & I just talked about the large family we once had and how there are so few remaining. The large family reunions we once attended. How we came to be related :) I can see your mom's smile setting at my mom's table while delivering Avon. Mom had many collectables from Avon, I'm sure both enjoyed having this connection which brought joy to them both including the company they shared. Both are now in heaven looking down on us.

Cherish her memories - they remain in your heart forever. Life will now change for you both as you've lost another piece of your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Deepest Sympathies

My dad, Tom Nuesca worked with Jan at McCosh drug. I was pretty little and I would always hang out there while my dad was working. I always thought Jan was the coolest lady ever! She always looked so classy and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world when she would let me help her with the perfumes and make up. My thoughts go out to the family. To a 6 year old, she was just so cool!
