It is with saddened hearts that we announce that Alice Diane (MacMullin) Murphy, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, Sep. 20, 2025.
Born to the late John Alexander MacMullin and Doris (Osborne) MacMullin on March 31, 1955 in Glace Bay.
Alice was a kind and dedicated teacher who taught primarily Grade 4 and had students in Birch Grove, Mira Road, Donkin, New Victoria, New Waterford, Port Morien, Sydney River, St. Anne's, Greenfield and Glace Bay. Her dedication to her students showed in the many cards and gifts she brought home each year. Alice always kept a treat or lunch money in her desk for any one who needed it. Alice also enjoyed figure skating and spending time with her family out at the bungalow on the Mira.
Besides her father, she was also predeceased by her husband Steve, brothers Kenneth (in infancy) and John Bryne. Alice is survived and will be missed by her mother Doris, daughter Tracey, son Bryne (Martine), grandchildren Emmah, Jayce, Stevee Ann and Kenneth as well as her brother Greg and nieces, nephews, students and friends.
Visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home from 2 until 4pm on Friday, Sep. 26 with a funeral service starting at 4pm in the chapel at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
