HODDER; Bertha gracefully passed away on June 9, 2018 surrounded by her 2 daughters, Bernice and Dolores. Bertha was born on Dec. 28, 1925 in Newfoundland. The daughter of the late Fred and Elizabeth (Noble) Cheffey. Bertha was a pillar of strength and courage to her family and community. Formerly from Gannon St, Glace Bay, she was a long time member of the Friendly Neighbourhood Club, a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church and a charter member of St. Mary’s A.C.W. for over 70 years acting as president for many of those years. Bertha will be remembered for her outstanding generous hospitality, her strong faith and for making a great cup of tea.
Bertha is survived by her two daughters Bernice MacIsaac (Victoria, BC) and Dolores (Alan) Wilson (Glace Bay), by her 7 grandchildren Michelle (John) Baird, Scott (Pamela) MacIsaac, Blaise (Nicole) Wilson, Jamey (Jane) MacIsaac, Shauna (Ian) Johnston, Alison (Mark) Hoogland and Blair (Kat) MacIsaac and by 13 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Dora Pardy (NL) and many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1970, sisters Lillian, Susie and May, brothers William and Thomas and son-in-law Alexander (Sandy) MacIsaac.

Visitation will take place at Patten Funeral Home in Glace Bay on Tuesday, June 12 from 2-4 & 7-9, Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Glace Bay with Rev. Myrna MacMullin officiating. Interment to follow in St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.pattenfuneral.com. Family flowers only.
