

Dawn was born on April 8, 1957 in Sussex NB. During her childhood and teenage years she lived in various locations in Nova Scotia and Ontario as well as Quebec and Saskatchewan. She moved to Glace Bay in 1976. She worked at Deckerboy Restaurant and Wheelhouse Restaurant, she also worked at the Woolworth Lunch counter and Black Diamond Pharmacy. For about the last 30 years, she worked at Lawton’s Drug store Glace Bay.
Dawn was a lifetime member and soldier of the Salvation Army. She was a gifted musician and the church pianist for many years. She currently attended the Salvation Army Church in Sydney.
Dawn is predeceased by her parents, Majors Claude and Annie Simpson. She is survived by her brother Glenn of Glace Bay, brother Tomm of Scarborough, ON, sister Linda Glace Bay and special niece Natasha Sponagle. She will be dearly missed by many cousins, coworkers and her church family.
Visitation will take place from 7-9pm on Wednesday, June 24th at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral Service will be held at the Sydney Salvation Army on Thursday, June 25 at 11:00am. Donation may be made to the Salvation Army Church in Sydney.
