It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Franklin Gary Ashe (known as Frankie) at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Intensive Care on Sunday, January 4th. He leaves behind the two most important people in his life, his wife Brenda of 58 years and his pride and joy, his daughter Patricia (David).
Frankie was a kind and soft spoken person. His greatest sport was fishing. He had lots of secret spots. Frankie was an honorary member of the Birch Grove Fire Department and also bowled with the Devco Pensioners. Frankie was a coal miner and was the founding member of Cape Breton Home Facebook Page. (Everyone would wonder where he got all the jokes).
He is survived by his sisters Juanita (Steve) and Kay, brothers Raymond (Cathy), Lloyd (Diane) and brother-in-law Darrell.
He is predeceased by his mother and father Violet and Herb Ashe, father and mother-in-law Jessie and Pat Neville as well as sisters Gloria, Alice and his nephew and name sake Ryan Glen Franklin. He will also be missed by his side kick, his dog, Buddy.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the VON (you guys are #1). Jeanette and Elaine thank you. Also thank you to Dr. David Ley and Ann and Lynn who were there for Frankie.
