We, the family of Ricky Milley, regret to announce his passing on February 15, 2025. Ricky passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Born on January 24, 1956, Ricky was active in sports, playing hockey and baseball in his younger years and then coaching little league in Tower Road and Birch Grove. He worked for thirty years between the Glace Bay General Hospitals and the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Ricky was an avid dart player and he and Chris spent many years playing in leagues and traveling to many tournaments in the area. He loved to hunt and fish and while doing so developed many lifelong, treasured friendships. Ricky also spent many years as a member of the Tower Road and Birch Grove Volunteer Fire Departments, proudly serving as chief in Birch Grove for a number of years. He was community oriented, whether it was searching for the perfect Christmas tree for the tree light up or cooking his famous fries on Canada Day. His greatest accomplishment in life would be his family. He was a family man through and through and when help was needed, he was there. Ricky was a great husband, father, 'Grumpy', son, brother, and uncle. Left to mourn are his wife Christine, daughters Shirley Lynn (Ryan) and Amanda (Steven), grandchildren Cheyenne (Ryan), MacKenzie and Cam, great granddaughter Taylin, sisters Dianne (Doug) and Dolores (Keith), brother in law Kenny, sisters in law Donna, Pearl, Debbie, and Barb, brother in law Joey (Brenda), and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Molly Milley, brothers Albert and Darren, sister Donna, mother in law Sadie, brothers in law Alfie, Chuckie, Jimmy, and Ralph. We would like to send out a heartfelt thanks to the workers at the CBRH, his palliative care team, and the VON. Your caring and compassion will not be forgotten. A special thank you to Cheyenne for all you have done during his health journey. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Patten's Funeral Home, Glace Bay. There will be no visitation or service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at the Birch Grove Fire Hall on Saturday, February 22 from 2-6pm. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Palliative Care or the Cancer Society.
