

Announce his passing on Sunday April 8. Da was born in Glace Bay on May 29,1933
to the late Effie (Fricker ) Nash and Herbert Henry Pittman Nash. While at a young age
Skip's father passed away and he went to New Haven where he was raised by a very
special Aunt Grace and Uncle Tom. Skip learned the life of a fisherman and hence began
a life long love of the sea. He joined the Canadian Armed forces and served his country
proudly in the Korean war. George made a career of the military and served his country
for 24 years. Upon his retirement he returned to Glace Bay and the life of a Fisherman
where he enjoyed lobster fishing and especially sword fishing. He worked tirelessly for
the benefit of other veterans through the Royal Canadian Legion. George was a member
of John Bernard Croak V.C. Branch 003 Royal Canadian Legion and served as Zone
Commander for zone 4. On November 6, 2006 George went to Ottawa to receive The
Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation.
George is survived by his wife, Patricia (Clowater), daughter Theresa (Blaise) Murphy,
and sons Kevin (Joanie) and Steven (Diane), grandchildren Dawn, Skip, Tricia, Mike, and Krista, step
grandchildren Lisa, Cher, and Brandi, great grandchildren, Brianna, Jayden, Jenna, Jordyn, Sawyer,
Hayden, Jade and Emily step great -grandchildren Courtney, Gavin, and Liam. He is also survived by
sisters Ida Kinslow, Jean Malabar, Eileen MacLennan, and Barbara Andrews and brothers Charles, Reuben,
Rev. Arthur(Emily) and Les (Ruth), sister-in-laws Florence "Nook" Nash, Gladys Nash, Pat Nash,
as well as many nieces and nephews and a very special "sister", Rachael Hussey.
Predeceased by parents , sisters Margaret, Lillian, May, and Delores, brothers Jim, Herbie, Allie,
Philip, Jack, Clayton, and Wallace, some close family in law, Shirley, Marilynn, Geordie, and Jessie
Visitation for George Edward Nash will be held on Tuesday April 10, 2012 from 7-9
at Patten Funeral Home 71 Union Street Glace Bay
Funeral service for George will be held at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Wednesday April 11,2012
at 11am with Rev. Judi Phillips Officiating
