Gordon Wallace Parsons

Gordie leaves behind his loving and devoted wife Frances, his sister Kaye York, and his brother Calvin Parsons along with many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gordie was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Sarah Parsons, his sisters Blanche MacDonald, Joyce Boutilier, Bess Anderson, and his brothers Martin Parsons and Art Parsons.

Gordie started work at Hopkins fish plant, then over to Cadegan's fish plant. He was then hired by the Glace Bay Bus Co. with Nells Tornada as manager in 1957. In that same year he married Frances (this October 5th would have been 69 years). It was at that same time Gordie started a new hobby repairing motorcycles. Everyone brought their bikes to him. He did it so long, that some customers even brought their grandchildren's bikes to him. They all said that if Gordie couldn't fix it, no one could. He was said to be the best on the island. Later the Glace Bay Bus Co merged with Sydney and he went too. Gordie drove the Sydney to Glace Bay bus for 43 years. He also drove trailer trucks to the US. Gordie retired Jan 30, 1999.

Gordie was a born again Christian who committed his life to the Lord at a very young age. He stayed true to God all of his life and always went to church and took an active part in everything there. One of his favourite scriptures is John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Gordie is now with his Lord and Savior in Heaven. He will be forever and dearly loved and missed.

Visitation for Gordie will be held from 11am to 1pm on Friday Sept 25th at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St. Glace Bay. The funeral service will begin at 2 pm at the Salvation Army Church, 40 Union St., Glace Bay with Rev Josh Randall officiating.
