Grace was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. She had a presence that was so gentle and kind and we were often told by those who knew our mother, that she was a "sweet soul" bringing smiles to all that knew her. Her laugh was contagious and her warm smile lit up many rooms. To know her was to love her, and she was loved by many.
Born in Glace Bay, Grace was the daughter of the late Timothy Patrick Nearing and Sarah Barrett. She spent most of her life in Ontario with her husband raising her two girls and working in finance and banking. Her proudest accomplishment was her family she cherished every moment with them. Grace and her husband later retired back home to Cape Breton and she could not have been happier. She would always look forward to holidays and gatherings, with friends and family.
Grace is survived by her daughters Leanne Attwood (Karl) and Natalie Attwood (Ian). She will be dearly missed by her grandson Justin Bravo (Amy) , her loving sister in law Audrey Blacklock (Jim) all of her nieces and nephews that loved her.
Grace was predeceased by her Husband Allan Attwood of 55 years.
Besides her parents Grace was predeceased by sister Shirley Sommers (Keith) brother Timothy "Sonny" Nearing (Edna) brother Barry Wagg. sister-in laws Ann & Phylis (Donnie)and brother-in-law Tommy(Joan) niece Kim Owen.
Our family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced care (Fishermans Cove). We cannot thank you enough for going over and above for our mother, your kindness will not be forgotten, she loved all of you.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of her life will be held at a future date when all the family can gather. Our mother's love was not just a feeling but a way of life, she taught us the importance of empathy, compassion and understanding for others, and that a little bit of kindness can make a world of difference.
We love you mom, cherished in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
