William Ivan Smith passed away suddenly while vacationing with his wife Shirley, in Branson, MO, USA on Thursday, October 11, 2012.

He was the son of the late Stanley and Christine (MacPherson) Smith of Port Morien.

He was past president of RCL Branch 55, Port Morien and founding member of Cape Perce Sea Cadets and retired from Central Shops, Devco after 40 years.

He is survived by the love of his life Shirley (Kelloway, RN); his brothers Robert (late Doris); Ewen (late Jean), both of ON; Gordon (Lois), Sydney; sisters Elizabeth (late Kenneth) Andrews; Joyce (late Joe) Peach, both of Port Morien; Helen (Ted) Peach, Wilmot; aunt Anna MacPherson, Port Morien; sister-in-law, Patsy (Elliott); brothers-in-law Harvey (Monica), both of Glace Bay; Orville (Teresa), Henry, ON and by a number of nieces and nephews.

Ivan was predeceased by father and mother-in-law Orville and Anastasia Kelloway and sister and brother-in-law Mary and Leslie Peach.

There will be no visitation Funeral service will take place at Patten Funeral Home on Friday at 2 pm with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating, with a reception to follow in the Patten Funeral Home Reception Room. Private burial at a later date at St. John Cemetery, Black Brook, Port Morien.
