John Edward Warren Baird

John was born in Glace Bay on February 14th, 1938, to Mabel (Morrison) Baird and Alfred Baird. Although his early twenties took him to Toronto, where he worked in finance, John eventually returned to the town he loved dearly -- Glace Bay -- where he went on to work for DEVCO.

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Emilia "Danno" Baird. John and Danno shared a wonderful life together and were known for their love of family, politics, and, especially, their jive dancing. They never missed a family event and cherished the time spent together with those they loved. John shared a very close and special bond with his brother, Gordon Baird, who predeceased him. The two were very mucha part of each other's lives, and their brotherly connection remained a meaningful and cherished part of John's life. John also shared a close connection to Gordon's wife Jean Baird.

John enjoyed the simple pleasures in life. If he wasn't at home, you might find him out for a walk or enjoying a few laps around the track at the Bay Plex. He was happiest when surrounded by family, friends, and the familiar places he loved. He passed on his love of 7-Up and Oreo cookies to John Baird (Michelle Baird), Kenneth Baird (Rahel Baird) and Susan Baird (Sandy MacKenzie) -- John's nephews and niece. John also had a deep passion for cars.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Laird and Claire Wilton for their kindness, care, and neighborly assistance to John. Their support and thoughtfulness meant so much to John and his family.

The family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Ley and the homecare team for the excellent and compassionate care provided to John.

John will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

There is no visitation or funeral service at John's request. Interment will take place at a later date at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care of Patten Funeral Home in Glace Bay.
