It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lorna Isabel (Campbell) MacDonald, 95, on September 24, 2025, at Seaview Manor where she resided for the past five and a half years. Lorna was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mom was born in Port Morien October 7, 1929, to the late Dan and Margaret (Smith) Campbell.
She was a member of Victoria Presbyterian Church, Birch Grove, and later transferred to Union Presbyterian Church, Albert Bridge.
Mom will be lovingly remembered by her twin daughters Marion and Katherine MacDonald, Port Morien; nieces Margaret (Wayne) Smith and Connie Roney (Alex Fettes); and nephews Neil (Debra) MacAulay, Jamie (Nicole) Campbell, and Daniel (Tina) Roney. She is also survived by her nephew’s spouses Linda Campbell, Charlene Campbell and many long-time friends.
She was predeceased by her husband Philip MacDonald in 1976 as well as sisters Katherine Campbell, Christine (George) Brown, Annie (William) MacAulay; brothers Hugh (Ethel) Campbell, John (Grace) Campbell, two brothers in infancy; sister-in-law Marion (Roy) Roney; nephews Wilfred Campbell and Donald Campbell. Mom will also be happily reunited with her grand dogs Cuema, Kayla, and Hannah.
Mom loved to cook and bake and was always inviting people to stop in for a cup of tea. Her favorite saying was “Put the kettle on”. She made a lot of Christmas puddings and preserves in her day. She also hand-stitched costumes for the Fortress of Louisbourg for several seasons. Mom was a true animal lover and had an eye for fashion. She loved a good road trip with a stop for a bite to eat and an ice cream for dessert. She was a loving caregiver throughout her life, always putting others before herself.
For the last nine years of her life, Mom lived with Lewy body dementia which may have taken a lot from her, but the love of her family was still present.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Seaview Manor and to Dr. Ley, Ann, and Lynn for the wonderful care Mom received over the years.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Patten Funeral Home, Union St., Glace Bay, from 12 until 2pm on Wednesday, Oct. 1st with a service to follow at 2pm with the Rev.
