

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Malcolm Clifton MacAskill who passed away in Taigh Na Mara on August 27, 2025. Born to John Buchanan and Flora MacAskill on August 20, 1932 in Glace Bay. Malcolm in his early years joined the Canadian Military and served in the Royal Highlands, Black Watch. Following this he returned to Glace Bay and worked at many jobs from the pits to being a commissionaire. He was a hard worker who never backed down from a challenge. He was an avid dart player, music collector and a die hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the NY Yankees.
Malcolm is survived by his children, including his son Clifton and his kids Jeffrey and James Michael along with numerous other relatives.
A graveside service will be held at St. Luke's United Church Cemetery in Donkin at 4:00pm on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family by visiting pattenfuneral.com.
