

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Mildred Frances Ferguson on Sunday January 31,2016 at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Mildred was born on September 9,1908 to John and Lavinia (Caravan) Rankin, Glace Bay.
Upon graduating from Glace Bay High School, Mildred worked at Woolworth’s Department Store before moving to the Boston Area where she was a children’s nanny for a number of years. She moved back home and married James Ferguson and together they resided in Glace Bay since 1947.
Mom was never a flamboyant person but was always independent in the way in which she wanted to live. She belonged to Home Helpers for the Glace Bay General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary knitting countless baby outfits and crib covers up to a few years ago. She attended St. Pauls’ Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society.
Mom is survived by her cherished daughter Elaine, son-in-law James Dillon and her precious granddaughter Erin (Her pride and joy) and also by two nephews Jim and Ron Rankin, British Columbia.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband James Ferguson, sister Vivian (Michael) Gouthro, brother Chester (Clare) Rankin and by brother Courtney and sister Gertrude in childhood.
Visitation for Mrs. Ferguson will be held Tuesday February 2,2016 from 2-4pm & 7-9pm, in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held Wednesday February 3,2016 at 2pm in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Allan MacLellan officiating .
