Myra Elaine Caines

It is with heartfelt sadness that the family announces the passing of Myra Elaine Caines on June 22, 2026. Elaine was the beloved daughter of the late Freeman and Hazel Jenkins and the cherished wife of the late Chesley Edwin Caines and was born in Glace Bay on November 13, 1939.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her 3 sons, David (Alice), Wayne (Julietta) and Donnie at Home. She also held a special place in her heart for her stepchildren Lewis, the late Cecil, Linda and Raymond.

Elaine was predeceased by her brothers Doug and Gerald and sisters Marie, Barb and Donna. She remembered by her brothers Freeman and Eddie, sister Brenda and niece Wendy as well as many extended family members and friends. Special mention is given to her close family friend Cecilia Vickers for creating those special memories and all of the nights you spent by Elaine's side.

Elaine was a proud grandmother to David jr., Ashton, Alyssa, Audrey, Trena, Chelsey, Jason, Ashley, Sara, Earl, Joey, Mark, Amy and Tracey and her 12 great grandchildren all of whom brought her immense joy.

She found the greatest happiness in spending time with her family, laughing, sharing stories and enjoying tea around the kitchen table. Her warmth, kindness and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will take place from 6-8pm on Sunday, June 28th at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery at 3pm on Tuesday, June 30th with Rev. Bob Biggar officiating.
