It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend Roberta Katherine (MacAulay) Rolf, who passed at the An Cala Unit of the Cape Breton Hospital on Tuesday, May 20. Born in Glace Bay to the late Robert and Anna (MacGregor) MacAulay. Roberta met her husband Peter in Halifax and upon getting married they moved to Montreal where she worked as a school teacher. In 1977 following Peter’s passing Roberta moved back to her beloved Cape Breton and where she soon found work with the Recreation Department engaged in Children and Senior’s Programs. Roberta later found employment within the Glace Bay School System where she remained up until her retirement in 2006. Roberta was a veracious reader with a keen sense of intellect. Once retired, her grandchildren, became her main focus and she was ever the proud, loving and supportive grandma, even spending many hours in a cold rink in order to be there for her grandkids, watching them enjoy the sport they loved. Besides her parents, Roberta was predeceased by her husband Peter, and brothers Archie, Stuart and Donald MacAulay. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughter Katherine (Mark), 2 grandchildren Aidan and Carter, sister Mary Johnson and sister-in-law Erma MacAulay. We would like to thank the caregivers for allowing her time to be home, the EMTs, ER doctor and Pallitive Care doctor as well as the nurses for treating her with respect.
Donations in Roberta's memory can be made to the Glace Bay Food Bank or the Pallitive Care Unit at the Cape Breton Hospital
