It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce that on September 22, 2025 in Taigh Na Mara, Glace Bay, Shirley Humby passed away peacefully. Born, April 9, 1942 to the late John and Edna (MacLeod) Bernasky. Shirley was not an elaborate person, but rather she enjoyed life simple pleasures, a good song, a good prank (especially if she was the perpetrator), puzzles and helping out anyone who needed a helping hand or some good advice. She could not do enough for her family, especially her grandkids and she was always there for them if they needed her. One of her favourite things to do, besides a good horror movie was karaoke singing and she could always be heard singing a tune.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son Herby, her siblings Joan, Christine, Paul, Albert, Effie, Irene, Big John, Esther and Margaret as well as her son-in-law Glen Walsh.
She is survived and will be missed by her children Elizabeth Milley, Marlene (Gary) Lynk, Kathy Humby (Brian), Jennifer (Randy) Marsters, Mary (Terry) Long and Barbara Walsh along with 22 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and her sister June, brother Ernie (Karen) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00pm on Friday, October 10 at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay.
