Kelli’s life was defined by love, especially the love she had for her children, Kai, London, and Samantha. They were her everything, and she was their fierce, protective, and an endlessly devoted mama bear. To her children, there was nothing stronger or more certain than Kelli’s love.
She is survived by her husband, John Gibson, who was her partner in life’s joys and struggles; her father Daniel who showed up for her in every step of her life; her sister Candice who knew that when she was in trouble, needed to talk, to borrow a shirt, or just to say hi, she could always count on her big sister; her brother Daniel and nephews Wyatt and Quinn who she loved so dearly; her in-laws Jackie and Darlene who loved her like their very own daughter; her much-loved nephew Alister who she adored to visit and simply be silly; and countless friends and family members who will carry her memory forward. She was predeceased by her mother, Cathy, whose spirit surely welcomed her home.
Kelli’s presence lit up the lives of those around her. She was real. She would tell you exactly what she thought and wouldn’t sugar coat anything unless it was something she would bake, she found joy baking sweets and nothing came close to her delicious skor squares. She loved her diamond dots, her weekly dart games with friends who became family, and long conversations about horror movies and true crime, topics she could talk about for hours with a sparkle in her eye. She cherished simple moments: visiting with her sister and father, laughing with her bestie Maryann, or creating lasting memories with John. A large 4 and 3 and a drive to Dominion beach to gab and laugh with John and her friends brought her so much happiness. Her laughter, energy, and loyalty made her unforgettable.
Though her time here was far too short, Kelli’s impact was immense. Her children, family, and friends will carry her love with them always, a reminder of the strength, warmth, and devotion she gave so freely.
In support of her husband and children, Kelli’s sister Candice has set up a go fund me to help them through this challenging time. Please visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/in-loving-memory-of-kelli
