It is with great sadness that we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Thomas ‘Tommy’ Joseph Yorke, on Monday, January 28, 2019 peacefully at home. Tommy was born in Glace Bay on April 21, 1943 to the late Thomas and Evelyn (Kiley) Yorke. Tommy married the love of his life Kaye (Parsons) Yorke on August 7, 1965.
Left to mourn, beside his wife and best friend of 53 years, Kaye, is daughter, Glenda (Tim) Yorke of Florida; sister, Marilyn (Donnie) Donovan of Glace Bay; uncle, Austin Kiley of Glace Bay; sister-in-law, Joyce Boutilier; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Frances) Parsons, Calvin Parsons, both from Glace Bay; as well as many special nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Tommy was predeceased by brothers, Ray, Butch and Art Yorke; mother and father-in-law, Hurbert and Sarah Parsons.
Tommy worked for DEVCO retiring in 1994 with 29 years of service. Before his illness Tommy loved being outside walking and picking blueberries. You could often find him sitting on the step doing his word searches. He will be sadly missed.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Memorial service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Ruby Carter officiating. Burial to take place in Greenwood cemetery on a later date.
