William Stewart Sterns

Stewart was born in Glace Bay, Jan.30,1913, the son of William Henry and Emmaroy Margaret (Smith) Sterns.

He is survived by wife, Jeanette (MacVicar) Sterns and son, William Stewart (Elaine) Sterns, brother James (June) and was predeceased by daughter, Gwenyth Louise Sterns, sisters, Mildred Dechman and Shirley McKenna.

Stewart graduated from Dalhousie University in 1937 with a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Pharmacy. He was a long standing business man in Glace Bay and area having taken over the Medical Hall Pharmacy from his father in 1946 and retiring in 1984 at the age of 71. He was also very active in his community, being a member of many service clubs, the Glace Bay Glee Singers and a member and former Commadore of the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club and a member of the Nova Scotia Pharmaceutical Society.

A funeral service under the direction of Patten Funeral Home will be held at Knox United Church, Glace Bay, Wednesday, Feb.23 at 2:00 pm.

No flowers or visitation, by request. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Burial will be at a later date in Pictou, N.S.
