Andy was born August 22, 1972 to William “Bill” F. and Cathy L. (Stark) Powell in Independence, Missouri. Andy was a confirmed bachelor until he met and fell in love and became a devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Tina. He was adamant about doing anything and supporting in any way possible.
Andy worked for Stone Canyon Pizza in Parkville, Missouri as a prep chef and Team Leader, where his work family was extremely important to him.
He had a passion for all types of music (and was a big fan of vinyl records), camping and being in nature (esp. at Smithville Lake), cooking and grilling in any season outside, and crafting his own recipes of beer. Andy was a well-traveled person going to places like Europe, Canada, Mexico and living and visiting many states like Mesquite, Texas; Mandeville, Louisiana; Woodridge, Chicago, and Schaumburg, Illinois; Florissant and Gladstone, Missouri; Hackettstown, New Jersey; Philly, Pennsylvania; and Battle Creek, Michigan.
Andy had a lot of love for sports and following Sporting KC and Manchester United were on the top of his list but also loved the KC Chiefs, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Cowboys, and KC Royals; his early hobbies involved skateboarding, frisbee golf, and playing soccer. He was a very active and involved person working as a DJ, a member of several bands (Four X and Naydivz), playing numerous instruments like the bass guitar, drums, acoustic guitar, and piano, as he was self-taught on all of these. Andy was eager to learn as well as continuing to learn and educate himself as much as possible. He never met a stranger and knew someone everywhere he went. Most important to Andy was his family and friends, whether he was grilling dinner, playing pool or darts or cheering on his teams on TV.
Andrew was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Charles and Nadine (Colbert) Stark and paternal grandparents, Stanley and Frankie (May) Powell; uncles, Charles “Chuck” Stark, Jr. and Floyd “Butch” Cronley; his brother-in-law, Louis Bachnak; and his precious black Labs (who were much more than pets) Molly and Tank.
Survivors include his parents, William “Bill” F. and Cathy L. (Stark) Powell; his wife of 3 years, Tina (Bachnak) Powell; his sister, Shannon (Bobby) Ross; nephews, Julian Joseph and Avery William; his best friend and best man, Roman; mother-in-law, Karen Gary; his sister-in-law, Lisa (Bill) West; nieces, Sophie and Payton; and Robin DeGroot; nephew, Andrew; niece, Kimberley; and Andy’s black Lab, Chulo (which in Spanish means “really cool”).
