Mrs. Aretta Josephine Olmstead Barnhart

Aretta J. Barnhart, 91, passed away April 15, 2015, surrounded by her family. Aretta was preceded in death by her by her husband of 55 years, Robert Barnhart, and her sister, Patricia Phillips. Aretta is survived by her sister, Judy Fuston and her husband, Ron. She is also survived by her three children: Patti Florkowski, Larry Barnhart and his wife Kathy, and Bill Barnhart and his wife Patty. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Aaron Florkowski and his wife Noelle Stoffel, Paul Florkowski and his wife Tammy, Greg Florkowski and his wife Kim, Jennifer Krahenbill and her husband Brandon, Gordon Barnhart and Audrey Barnhart. She is also survived by nine great- grandchildren. In 1965, at the age of 42, Aretta graduated from William Jewell College. She taught 5th grade at Linden West for 19 years. Besides her family, Aretta’s passions in life included the Royals, the Jayhawks, music, bridge, Antioch Community Church and the Northland Sweet Adelines. A visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home on April 20, 2015 at 10 AM with a funeral service following at 11 AM. The family is especially thankful to Wexford Place Memory Care and NorthCare Hospice House, who cared for her during her transition from this life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to NorthCare Hospice House and Antioch Community Church.
