He was born March 19, 1940, in Harlem, MO to Arthur M. Homer and Helen C. (Tatham) Homer.
Art attended school in Harlem, Missouri. He graduated from Park Hill High School in 1958. He graduated from Finlay Engineering College in Kansas City, MO with an Electrical Engineering Degree and held a Professional Engineering License.
Art’s first job was in Mountain Home, ID, working on U.S. missile sites. He went next to Tucson, AZ to work on U.S. missile sites for Martin Company which eventually evolved into Lockheed Martin.
After completing his work with missile sites for the U.S. Government, he returned to Kansas City, MO. Art’s work history was with: Burns & McDonnell, E.T. Archer, Garney Construction, and Durkin. Art started his own company of Arrowhead Industries; Art retired from Black & Veatch.
Art served as Alderman for Riverside, MO from April 2012 thru April 2018. He served as Riverside Assistant Treasurer from 2018 thru May 2025. He served several years on the Levee Board for Riverside, MO until 2025.
Art was a member of the North Kansas City Breakfast Club. He enjoyed the fellowship and food every Thursday morning for many years at Cascone’s.
Art enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and using his hands and mind to design and create many amazing projects. He was a #1 problem solver.
Art will be remembered by those who knew him as being smart, kind with a strong work ethic and a special sense of humor.
Art married Donna Schad and together they had three children, Michelle, Mark, and Melissa.
Art and his life partner, Emily, spent the last 28 wonderful years together working hard, having fun, traveling and enjoying friends.
His bonus family with Emily (Wormsley) Greene includes Jennifer (Greene) Remley, Ross Remley, and Rosalie Remley.
His remaining family are daughters, Michelle (Rick) Elmer and Melissa Homer; grandchildren, Megan (Brady) Fox, Blake (Diana) Elmer, and Katelyn Elmer; great grandson, Lincoln Fox.
Art was preceded in death by, his parents, Arthur M. and Helen (Tatham) Homer; his step- father, Henry (Ike) T. Owens; and his son, Mark Homer.
