Barbara Wollberg

Barbara (Vogts) Wollberg, 73, died peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 29th, 2025 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer, in which she showed immeasurable strength and positivity.

Barbara was born on July 23rd, 1952 in Canton, KS to Leroy and Ruth (Meyer) Vogts. She attended St. John’s College and graduated from Concordia University, Nebraska in 1973 with a degree in Elementary Education. Barbara spent the next 38 years passionately educating in the preschool and elementary grades in Lutheran schools. Barbara is remembered as a wonderful and dedicated educator to the over 750 children who had the privilege of having her as a teacher.

Barbara married Bill in 1981, and had a loving and long-lasting marriage until his passing in 2024. Barbara and Bill had three children together, that they lovingly raised along with Bill’s two sons. Barbara’s true joy came from her family, whether it was spending time with her children, playing cards with her siblings, or having several of her thirteen grandchildren piled on her lap reading stories. She will be remembered by all as a loving, devoted, caring, and strong wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and teacher.

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her father and mother, Leroy and Ruth Vogts.

She is survived by her children: Jon Wollberg (Liz), Karen Crider (Matt), Maggie Milner (Eric); her step-sons: Chris Wollberg (Erin), Josh Wollberg (Michelle), and her grandchildren: Maya, Zane, Benjamin, Abigail, Cameron, Andrew, Lillian, Della, Harper, Callie, Cora, Ellen, and Ward; as well as her siblings: Ralph (Cathy), Kathy (Dennis), Paula (Lohren), and Kevin (Terry), and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled for 10:00-11:00 am with a funeral service immediately following on Friday, August 1st at King of Kings Lutheran Church. A graveside service will follow at White Chapel Cemetery. A luncheon reception will be held at King of Kings Lutheran Church after the graveside service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Barbara’s life.
