Bob was born on June 21, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Layton “Bud” and Ollie Beavers. Bob spent his early years attending school in Owasso, Oklahoma. Fate then led him to Atchison, Kansas, where he met Daisy Dowdell, the woman who would become the love of his life. Together, they built their life and raised their family in the close-knit community of Weston, Missouri. For 20 years, Bob was a familiar figure in the area through his concrete and construction business, contributing to the growth and fabric of Weston. Summers brought a different kind of partnership, as Bob and Daisy could be found running their beloved food truck at the Platte County Fair, creating memories and serving the community together.
For 45 wonderful years, Bob and Daisy embraced the warmth of the Texas “Rio Grande Valley” during the winter months, creating a cherished seasonal tradition. Their entrepreneurial spirit shone again with the Apple Barn Café, a true family affair where Daisy’s cooking delighted patrons and Bob’s handy skills kept everything running smoothly.
Beyond his professional life, Bob was known for his zest for life and his adventurous spirit. A true enthusiast of the Lake of the Ozarks, he was considered by his family to be the “BEST WATER SKIER EVER,” always ready to take to the water with his boat.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 53 years, Daisy; and his brothers, Eldon, Vern, and Jerry.
His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Cathy Marlene, formerly of Weston, Missouri; his sister, Irlene Dick of Hutchinson, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Claudette Beavers of Pierceville, Kansas; his grandchildren, Brandon Lee Bosch of Parkville, Missouri, Jenny Lorraine Bosch of Kansas City, Missouri, Kyle James Bosch of Kansas City, Missouri, and Taylor Layton (Jillian) Bosch of Platte City, Missouri. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to a charity of your choosing, allowing his spirit of generosity to continue.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff on the fourth floor at the University of Kansas Medical Center for their compassionate care.
Services and Committal will be held at a later date.
