

Carla Renae Valentine of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at Overland Park Regional Hospital. She was only 59 years old. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death. Carla was born December 21, 1963 to Kenneth and Evelyn (Kramm) Bentley. She was their only beloved child.
Carla is survived by her husband, Bob Valentine of the home and their beloved fur babies, Sebastian and Simon, and her father Kenny Bentley of Kansas City. She will be forever remembered by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Vicki and Dave Sisel of Pleasant Hill, and Sue Valentine, Bob’s mother of Raymore. Carla was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Bentley.
Though Carla had no children of her own, she dearly loved and was actively involved in the lives of Bob’s niece Lauren, nephew Derek, their spouses Claude and Elizabeth and their children Valentine, Fiona and Renee. Carla was extremely proud of both Lauren and Derek and was one of their greatest advocates and cheerleaders. Carla especially loved being a “Great Aunt” and continued on with her ability to love and spoil her great nieces.
Carla grew up in the Kansas City area and was a fun spirited soul who took on many interests. She graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1982. Following graduation, Carla immediately entered the workforce where she continued her passion for accounting and worked for several companies in the Kansas City Area, with her most enjoyable being her current position at Advanced Erosion Solutions. She was well respected in her field and highly regarded for her knowledge, professionalism and sense of humor.
Carla met her beloved husband Bob, an Olathe Kansas Firefighter, in Raymore, Missouri. They married on July 5, 1986. She was a devoted and supportive wife of a Firefighter for over 32 years.
They shared many happy times together and enjoyed traveling, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Carla had a passion for cooking and especially enjoyed being a part of the KC BBQ competitions. She annually helped with judging contests at Jakes Bar and Grill in Shawnee, Kansas.
Carla was an avid NASCAR fan. She loved and followed many drivers, her favorite being retired driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. She loved attending NASCAR races and sharing her knowledge of racing facts and memorabilia.
Carla found great comfort and peace in the outdoors. One of her favorite places was spending time at Lake Pomme de Terre. Carla spent many happy times with her family and friends at the family lake house there. She loved boating, soaking in the sun and “bobbin’ in the lake”.
Carla was a beautiful person inside and out. She cared deeply about the people around her. Carla was kind, passionate and made an impact on many lives. She will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
A visitation for Carla will be held Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM with interment following in the White Chapel Cemetery.
