

Charles was born on April 14, 1931, in Harlan, Iowa to Charles D. Maysent and Martha C. (Heilesen) Maysent. He graduated from Harlan High School in 1949. After high school, he attended Iowa State College, where he was enrolled in ROTC. After moving back to the farm, he met Donna Fischer at the Denison Roller Skating Rink. They were married in Omaha, Nebraska on July 11, 1950. Charles and Donna farmed for 19 years on the family farm near Kirkman, Iowa. The couple had 5 children.
His family remembers him enjoying air shows, family vacations and working on the farm. He later pursued an interest in electronics/television and received a certificate from Central Technical Institute in Kansas City, Missouri. This new career path led him to employment in various locations as a summer relief technical engineer until landing a permanent position in Kansas City, Missouri at KCMOTV in 1969. At that time the family moved from Iowa to Gladstone, Missouri. Charles retired from KCMO in 1992 after 23 years of employment. After moving to Kansas City he became an avid fan of the KC Royals baseball team and attended games whenever he had the chance.
He was a member of a United Methodist Church and joined Donna in numerous volunteer and mission work activities such as; Meals on Wheels, for 27 years, the church Christmas Store, “Building 10 Homes in 10 Days”, mission trips to Louisiana, Colorado, Arkansas and around the Kansas City Northland Area.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Martha Maysent of Harlan, Iowa; infant sister, Donna Lee and sister, Nadine Floyd of Minneapolis, Minnesota; son-in-law Kevin McTaggart.
Charles is survived by his wife Donna of Gladstone, Missouri, son Wendele (Susan) of Ames, Iowa, daughter, Sheryl (Kevin-deceased) McTaggart of Lincoln, Nebraska, son, Scott (Barb) of Belton, Missouri, son Nicki (Pam) of Kansas City, Missouri, daughter, Heidi (Kirk) Brown of Kearney, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren with #29 due next month.
Family will hold private funeral services at White Chapel Cemetery.
