Donnia Marie Frost

Donnia was born on June 21, 1937 in Trail, Missouri to James and Mary Elsie (nee Mayfield) Cockrum. Donnia married the love of her life, Norman Lowell Frost, on February 23, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri. Donnia spent the majority of her younger years as a hairdresser in the cosmetology field, while Norman ultimately made a career at the Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, Missouri. Together, they welcomed two beautiful children: Gregory Wayne Frost (Carmela) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Darlene Renae Ott of Fort Worth, Texas. Her loved ones remember her as a devoted, loving, beautiful individual who always brought out the best in those around her. Over the years, she was the cornerstone of her family, providing unwavering support for her husband of almost 67 years, and raising her two children in a blanket of unconditional love. She held many different jobs in addition to hairdresser – store manager of her local marina at the Lake of the Ozarks, President of her local community water department, and waitress - amongst others. In her free time, she was passionate about playing games. Board games, video games, and casino games were all favorites of hers – but she seemed at her happiest with playing cards in her hands. Those close to her knew she was always up for a game of cards but knew that you asked to play at your own risk. She was out to win, no matter who was sitting at the table with her.

Donnia was preceded in death by her parents (James and Mary Elsie Cockrum), three brothers (Bernie, Basil and Boyd Cockrum), two sisters (Pauline Harris and Florine Shivers), and a great-granddaughter (Erica Frost). She is survived by her husband (Norman), son (Gregory), daughter (Darlene), sisters Wanda Heath and Nadean Harris, grandchildren Gregory Frost (Julie) and Barbara Miller (Shaun), and three great-grandchildren. The family lost a matriarch, but the heavens gained an angel.
