He was born on January 14, 1923 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to the late Fred W. Bolliger and Agnes C. Tamisiea. Duane was the beloved husband of Helen Johnson Bolliger for 78 years. He was the loving father of Terry Bolliger, Kenneth (Connie) Bolliger, and Gregory (Sharon) Bolliger. Duane was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Duane grew up on the family farm and graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1941. He enlisted in the Army and served as a pilot during WWII and a Major in the Air Force reserves. His love for aviation led to a career with Braniff Airlines for over thirty years. Duane was active in the Traffic and Transportation Club of Kansas City and served a term as president.
Duane and Helen married in 1947 and started their family in Omaha, Nebraska, then moved to Rochester, Minnesota in 1955 and then Kansas City, Missouri in 1962, all of which they call home. They enjoyed a winter home in Arizona, travel to visit family, friends, and vacation. Helen has support of her family. We all share memories of their many years together. Fun fact, only about 1 in 100,000 marriages reach their 78th anniversary!
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jack Bolliger; sisters, Loretta Beck and Marguerite Prior Rath; daughter-in-law, Christine Bolliger; and granddaughter, Karina Quail.
A visitation for Duane will be held Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral at 11:00 AM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119.
