Dwayne was born on May 23, 1951, in Independence, Missouri, to Harold and Edith (Smith) Shaw. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1969.
Dwayne worked for a body shop in high school and then worked for Central Candy and Tobacco, General Electric, General Motors, J.C. Penney, Harrison Trucking, Ogden Aviation, and Preservation Housing. He also owned and managed rental property and was a stay-at-home dad for more than ten years.
Dwayne enjoyed airplanes, cars, fishing, and traveling, but his happiest moments were those spent with family and friends. He liked working on home projects, whether his own or those of friends and family.
Dwayne’s family and his many friends will remember him as a genuinely nice guy who was generous with his time. He knew how to fix anything—from car brakes to laptops—and helped anyone who needed it.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Marilyn; his sister, Darla Adair; children: Phillip Shaw (Tiffany), Eric Rasmussen (Tara), Christopher Shaw (Katherine), Gina Neild; grandchildren: Laine Rasmussen Walker, Haden Neild, Benjamin Neild, and Alexander Shaw.
He also leaves many well-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and countless friends.
