

Francisco G. Medina, 73, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on July 20, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am, Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Patrick Parish, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64116. Visitation will be 6 to 8pm, Thursday, July 24, 2014, at White Chapel Funeral Home, with Rosary at 6pm. Francisco was preceded in death by his parents, Cirilo and Emiliana Medina and his sister, Delphina Velazquez. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Alicia Medina; children, Francisco A. Medina (Sharon Swingle) of Washington, DC, Maria C. Chapman (James) of Kansas City, MO, Veronica Elizabeth Medina (Daniel Cailler) of New Albany, IN, Joseph D. Medina of Kansas City, MO, and John-Paul Medina (Alexis) of Kansas City, MO; and 4 grandchildren, Claire and Paul Medina, and Catherine and Victoria Chapman. Frank, as he was known to his family and friends, was a life-long resident of Kansas City. After he graduated from Central High School, he served in the United States Coast Guard, and was stationed in Michigan and Bermuda. He met his future wife on New Year’s Day, 1963, and married her in Cueramaro, Mexico, in 1965. He worked for the Kansas City Star, Armco Steel, and General Motors, from which he retired as a pipefitter in 2009. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 31. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Frank's family would like to thank the staff of NorthCare Hospice for their extraordinary kindness and care. In lieu of flowers, his family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the National Kidney Foundation.
