George Wesley Nelson, 80, of Gladstone, Missouri went to be with his Lord on August 10, 2016, surrounded by his family. He was born July 28, 1936 in Richmond, Missouri to John Marvin Nelson, Sr. and Winona Mildred McGinnis. George was a US Army Veteran as an Infantryman and K9 Trainer. A retiree from the United States Postal Service, he was involved with the installation of the original computer systems throughout the KC area. He was a member of the choir and active member at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
George was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deanna May Nelson; brother, Paul Wayne Nelson and great grandson, Landon James Willett. Survivors include his son, Kevin (Rachelle) Nelson; grandchildren, Shaun Nelson, Shalan (Michael) Willett, Jessica (Evan Smith) Nelson, Donna Nelson, Stephanie (Gabe) Bickel, Sarah (Chris) Miller, Jessica Bishop and Nicole Bishop; brothers, John Marvin (Carol) Nelson, Jr., Hubert (Bonnie) Nelson, Ronald Phillip (Joanne) Nelson, James Nelson and Stephen Nelson; sisters, Nadine (Arthur) Horn and Romona (Jari) Saavalainen; and 8 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be 11 AM, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at White Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family.
