James was born October 15, 1935 in Knox County, MO to the late James M. and Rosa L. Smith. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. James was a truck driver for many years. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Catherine Louise and a brother, Leo Smith.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Rita A Smith; children, Karen Sue Fisher, Tony Smith and Rebecca Ann Hatfield; 4 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 brothers, Clarn and Richard Smith.
Services will be at 12:00 noon, Monday, February 22, 2016 at White Chapel Funeral Home, Gladstone, MO. Interment will be at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorial gifts can go to Shriners Children Hospital.
