He liked my spaghetti. I remember him eating leftovers straight out of the container.

James was like a grandpa to us. He taught my sister and I how to ride bikes. He dealt with us placing beanie babies on him. He showed my sister and I the inside of his old truck. Showed us his hidden food bench. He always beat me at words with friends. I'll miss him. Hope he's with Sam on the rainbow bridge. 


I had only had an opportunity to meet James two  or three times in person. However I have known him on Facebook and through my sister Dixie. We would challenge each other in games online. Enjoyable, but  what I remember most is ,long ago James seemed unsettled and hated the job he had. Dixie asked him what he would like to do. His answer was,  I’d like to drive a truck. She said then do it. So together they did it. Got him through the training  and he got a job  Stayed with that company for many years and loved it.   Just recently he thanked  Dixie for helping him change his life and make it so much better.   He also Thanked her for stepping in and taking care of his mother and in finding her a place where she was happy.   I felt his pain when he lost his dog.  Now they are reunited. Thanks to God! I know you will all miss him greatly. I believe his presence is with all of you. Just be open to recognizing that.   Directly to James: Please think  about saving a place at your table for me and putting in a good word to God for me. With fondness,  Ginny ( your candy crush friendly opponent).

How you would greet me every time we saw each other. With that Texan twang you never lost. The goofy sayings that you’d say, never got old. Even after hearing them for 25 years, I’d still laugh. I’ll miss that. As far back as I can remember,  I never heard you yell or raise your voice. Rarely, had I even seen you angry before. It was always refreshing to see that quality trait and was never unnoticed by me. Cool, calm, collected, and country. I will never get used to death, especially the unexpected ones. You gave me a gift card the day before your birthday the last time I got to see  you and made it very clear I was NOT to get you a birthday present. Rarely does our side of the family show affection but I’m so glad I got to hug you and let you know that I love you. I’ll miss you, Pawpaw. Say hello to Zach and give Sam a good belly rub for me. 

Keep them angels on their toes, dad. Give Sam a kiss for me. Love Susan, Kyle, Chloe, and Grace.

I have watched the blinking cursor for this memory, for awhile now. So much went unsaid, but I know now, he knows my thoughts and one day I will know his as well. I will miss him greatly. James' oldest son, James Jr.

This was taken at the Brenek/Wilson family reunion.  They stood in order of their birth beginning with James on the right. 

The Wilson boys helping Uncle James adjust his tie at Grandma Violas’s memorial service. I find comfort knowing that James and Garry are with Grandma again.

I loved spending time at grandma Viola’s house with my uncles. There were days when all the uncles would meet up to fix the roof or poor concrete in the driveway. One time, we played volleyball in the front yard. You could always find animals and a garden in the backyard. Even though the house was located in a city it felt like I grew up on a farm! We always had fun together in grandmas backyard.
