Joe was born on July 13, 1951, in Ried, Austria, the son of Josef and Erika Hoppenthaler, moving to the United States in 1952. He was the owner of Hoppenthaler Woodcraft and, as a master carpenter, leaves a legacy of beautiful craftsmanship in many homes throughout the Kansas City area. He loved spending time in his workshop building furniture and restoring cars or sharing a meal and good stories with loved ones. Joe will be deeply missed.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents and his eldest son, Ronald Dean Hoppenthaler.
He is survived by his loving wife Terry (Gromer) Hoppenthaler and sons Chris (Ceressa) Hoppenthaler of Kansas City, MO and Shaun (Crissy) Hoppenthaler of Liberty, MO. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Kylie, Avery, Exavier, and Ireland, and his brother-in-law, Larry Gromer (Shannon).
The family would like to thank NorthCare Hospice House for the care they provided Joe in his final days.
A visitation for Joe will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Following services, the family invites all guests to a reception at Margarita's North, 7013 N Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64118.
