Lauralyn Lee Pickard passed away Sept. 24, 2016. She was born Jan. 12, 1932 in Lawson Missouri to Bernard and Fern Holt. She had one younger brother named Dayton, whereabouts unknown. Lauralyn lived an exciting and fun life working in bars, doing administration work, being a home maker and having a rental home business with her late husband, Don. She loved animals and was always wanting to adopt a new puppy to love. Her greatest animal love was Sweet Pea, the miniature poodle that was a gift from her late husband in 2008. This pup was her baby. She also loved to go out to eat, had an eye for bold costume jewelry, was always well put together and never left home without make up. She was known in the neighborhood as Grandma and she had the gift of gab. After her husband of 30 years passed in 2008, she was devastated; but just like the romance novels she loved to read, in 2014 she was reunited with a past boyfriend from 50 years prior. Lauralyn and Lloyd enjoyed several years of reconnecting and dates. She was happy. Lauralyn was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Fern Holt; husband, Donald Pickard, Sr. and daughter, Catherine Hicks. She leaves behind her caregiver, Kimberly Komar (Brian); son, James Taylor (Becky); grandchildren, Kayla Fletcher, Brandon, BJ and Brad Komar, Eden and Jordan Viles, Tamera Mrowinski (Mike), Joshua Pickard and Franklyn Taylor (Jodi); and great grandchildren, Bohden Komar, Grayson and Savanna Mrowinski and Gracyn Taylor. Graveside services will be 11am, Monday, Oct. 10 at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Raytown. A memorial gathering will be at the home of Kim Komar 4-6pm, also on Monday.
