Louie was born May 17, 1927 in Britt, Iowa. He served in the Navy on a supply ship in the Philippines during WWII and was Legal Yeoman in Guam for the first 2 years of the Korean War. Before going to service, he married Ometa Siegelin on June 5, 1948. He is survived by his wife and two children, Paula Boyle, and John Kadera, wife Madonna and grandson, Tyler.
Louie and Ometa settled north of the river, where they were instrumental in forming the City of Gladstone. In the 1980s, they helped establish Youth Friends in the NKC School District, where they assisted the teachers by tutoring students in math, reading, etc. in the classrooms.
He was a service man for Sears for 34 years, then retired to become a school bus driver for 10 years in the NKC School District, where he drove the special-needs kids to and from school. Also, during this time, Louie was a member of Gladstone VFW 10906 honor guard team, participating in over 1,500 funerals. He was past Commander, as well.
His love and support of kids showed as he served as Scoutmaster for Troop 316 at Fairview Christian Church, as well as a Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group Leader.
He always said, “Volunteering makes a person feel good; however, helping others is a privilege.”
