He was 74 years old. Mark was born to Betty Jean and Mark Hamilton Auld Jr. at St. Mary’s Hospital in Kansas City on October 14, 1950. He graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 1968 and began his freshman year at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. A powerful encounter with Christ became a turning point that shaped his path from then on.
After coming to faith in Jesus, Mark lived at the House of Agape in Kansas City, where he became deeply involved in ministry. He later moved to Florida and served with Derek Prince Ministries, continuing his life of service and faith.
While in his teens, he learned to play the guitar which set the grounds for a lifelong love of music. In high school, he was a part of the backstage crews for both The Who and The Byrds. Mark later often led worship in ministry, eventually writing and recording the album, “Let Us Go to Bethlehem” in the basement of his house.
Mark married Marjorie Bedford and together had three children: Rebekah, Elizabeth, and Mark.
He returned to Kansas City in the 1990s where he remained for the rest of his life. Throughout his life, Mark had always expressed a strong sense of ingenuity and creativity. In high school, he built a violin-body electric guitar—this creative and skilled project laid the foundation for his passion in woodworking and antique restoration, which Mark pursued throughout his life.
Mark was known for his quiet spirit, deep convictions, and the gentle love that he put into everything he did.
He is survived by his fiancée, Janet Solomon, and by his children and their families: Daughter Rebekah Burge, her sons Joshua Burge (and wife Kaitlyn), and their children Charlotte and William; and Alex Burge. Daughter Elizabeth Stultz (and husband James) and their children Nicholas, Nathaniel, Elliott, and Joshua. Son Mark Hamilton Auld IV (and fiancée Van Pham) and their daughter Zoe. Sister Melissa Carolan, Brother John Auld; Brother Dan Auld (and wife Amy); sister-in-law Mishal (widow of brother Kevin) and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mark was preceded in passing by his father Mark Hamilton Auld Jr, his mother Better Jean Preble (Auld), his brother Kevin Laurence Auld, and his son-in-law David Burge.
