Mary Jane was born on September 12, 1928 in Hillsboro, Illinois to Josiah T. Bullington and Mary Theresa (Thompson) Bullington. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana. She married Robert Gordon Beatty on March 15, 1953 in Hillsboro, Illinois and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri.
Mary Jane was a founding member of the Northland Quilter’s Guild and served as the Guild’s third president. She was also a long-time member of Platte Woods United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Josiah T. and Mary Theresa Bullington, her husband of 36 years, Robert G. Beatty, her sisters Rosina Ducrest and Josephine Schindler and her brother John Bullington. Mary Jane is survived by her daughter Janice Beatty, son Richard (Teresa) Beatty and grandchildren Taylore Beatty, Bryce Beatty and Kendyl Beatty, all of Kansas City, Missouri, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will hold a private graveside service on Saturday, May 5, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Saint Luke’s Hospice House (via a tribute gift through www.saintlukesgiving.org) or the American Heart Association.
