My friend Kathy and I were driving through the old neighborhood last week and we saw some people on Mike's front porch. We hollered at them and asked where Mike was. They said he didn't live there anymore. We had a funny feeling and looked up his name, and found that he had passed in January. 

We've known Mike since he moved into our neighborhood, back when we were in high school, over 50 years ago. As others have said, he was always one to help where he could.  He did lots of work on his house and yard, and they always looked great. He was kind of the strong, silent type, with a heart of gold inside. In his later years, he often did siding work for my son, in his remodeling business. He will be missed. 

Condolences to PJ and Mikey, Velda and the rest of the family. RIP Mike. 

Mike was a good neighbor to my mom, Marie Fairchild.  She lived across the back alley from Mike. Being a widow for a number of years before moving to Omaha, if she ever needed anything done, Mike was always willing to help her out. He was a good friend and neighbor not only to Mom but to any neighbor who needed help.  May you RIP, Mike. 

Today I received the news & my heart is broken. Mike was a wonderful Brother In Law & a Dear Friend.  I felt such deep gratitude for the times Mike came running in Mom’s times of need for a second hand to help me left her up. Mom thought the world of Mike & we could always depend on his willingness to help wherever he could. My sister, Velda, was truly blessed to have Mike & Mike will surely be missed by us. Mike was my best neighbor and neighborhood friend. I loved him like family. He and I would always sit on each others porch and drink coffee. He would always talk about Valda, his children, what it was like being a cop and his life as a church Usher. Mike established a relationship with my daughter and grandson. Mike loved to dress up when he could. He always bragged about how I dressed my grandson for church and said he should take him to church, so the other kids could see how they should dress for church. My husband and Mike was pretty close also. When Mike couldn't work on things anymore, all he had to do was call Dwayne and it was done. Mike was the heart of neighborhood. He would sit in his chair and always look out his window while Valda was in the front room on the computer. I would drive by and wave because I knew Mike was sitting by the window watching. This is a loss to our neighborhood family. Mike will be missed greatly. We love and miss you too Valda! You and your family are in our prayers.

My husband Paul mowed Mike's yard last summer. Paul said he enjoyed sitting on the porch with Mike and just talking. Mike's passing hurt us both emotionally.

We will miss you, Mike!  You were a kind, loving man that always wanted to take care of your loved ones.  You were funny!  You were good with all the kids, giving them lots of attention & love.  Life was better for everyone with you in it.  Even though we miss you, the Lord decided that it was time for you to be with him.  So now you're in the most wonderful place, feeling no pain, with no more suffering.  We love you & will miss you!

I will never forget how much you loved life. I always loved hearing your stories from your childhood. I hope that you are resting easy in Gods warm embrace. You were the best Grandpa to Riley. We love and miss you always.
