

Monetia May Divelbiss passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026 at her home in Kansas City, MO. She was born on February 5, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to the late Harold B. Stevens and Barbara Stevens Ashby. She had a special relationship with each of her parents, Harold and Alberta Stevens, and Jim and Barbara Ashby.
Monetia was the beloved wife of Fred Divelbiss for 30 years. She was the loving mother of Chris Bridges (Alisa), Lisa MacDowell (Steve), Michael Bridges (Becky), and Jay Cleem (Missy). Monetia was a proud grandmother and left a lasting legacy with14 grandkids and 28 great-grandkids. She was the sister of Bobbie McLaughlin and Jim Stevens. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Monetia married her first husband young, and had 3 children- Chris, Lisa, and Micheal. She enjoyed her time as a military wife and was able to travel the world during his time in the service. She shared many stories of their time in the Philippines and many different bases in the U.S. She later married her second husband John with whom she had her fourth child- Jay.
She and Fred married in 1992 and spent most of their time on their farms in Kidder and then Tourney. They enjoyed spontaneous fishing together and tending to their farms, too many stories to tell.
She was a faithful follower of Jesus and would share her story and testimony with anyone she talked to. She attended a couple different churches over the years, she was most recently attending Prevail Church in Smithville, MO. There she especially enjoyed sharing her time with the ladies prayer group.
Monetia took after her namesake, her Grandmother Monetia and her green thumb. She grew many flowers and plants both inside the house and out. She had a large garden on the farm and was still growing tomatoes last summer, too many for her to eat, and would share them with everyone, often propagating houseplants for her kids.
Monetia was a talented crafter and could make just about anything she put her mind to.
Through it all, her family was the center of her world. She never told a story without beaming and bragging about her kids and grandkids.
She was the perfect mom, through all of the ups and downs, she always put her children first and never complained. She was able to do a lot with a little and made it look effortless.
Monetia will surely be missed by all those she touched.
