Wayne was born November 1, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late John S. and Lucy A. Mynatt.
Wayne was a mechanical engineer who specialized in axle design for off-highway vehicles such as open-pit coal mine trucks and Alaskan tundra trucks.
Wayne was a hot-rodder in his youth and never lost his love for cars. He enjoyed boating and camping and took his family on trips to most of the lakes in Kansas and Missouri to camp and water ski. He and his wife Donna square danced for many years and cheerfully served the square-dancing community in various roles. He loved creating things out of wood and gifted many beautiful pieces to family and friends. Wayne was devoted to his family and spent his life caring for them, guiding them and protecting them. He made many devoted friends over the years and enjoyed their company greatly.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents John Samuel Mynatt and Lucy Ann Mynatt (nee Bailey), a sister Janet Lea Buzard and a son, Scott Wayne.
He leaves behind a wife, Donna Rae Mynatt (nee Brooks); a son-in-law and two daughters, John and Debbie Jefferies, and Merrie Ann O’Brien; a brother, Kenneth Edward "Eddie" Mynatt; and grandchildren: Ashley Jefferies, Josh and Keri Wardlow, Kealie O'Brien, Brendan O'Brien and Declan O'Brien.
Wayne was not a boisterous man, but his gentle, kind and sincere manner touched the lives of everyone who came to know him. His presence will be sorely missed in a great many lives.
