March 29, 1928 – December 21, 2022
Ometa Kadera, 94, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away December 21, 2022. She was born in Rockville, Indiana on March 29, 1928. Her family moved to Kansas City, Missouri in the late 1930s, where she met and married the love of her life, Louie Kadera. They were married 72 years when he passed away in May 2019. Ometa is survived by her daughter, Paula Boyle, whose husband Bruce passed away in July 2018, and her son, John Lewis Kadera, wife Madonna, and her only grandson, Tyler John Kadera.
Ometa and Louie settled north of the river, where they were instrumental in forming the City of Gladstone. In the 1980s, they helped establish Youth Friends in the NKC School District, where they assisted the teachers by tutoring students in math, reading, etc. in the classrooms.
She was a school secretary for the NKC School District, beginning in 1962 at Antioch Junior High School and retiring from Oakwood Manor Elementary School in 1993. Ometa was also very active as organist for Hillside Christian Church, then, for most of her life, at Fairview Christian Church.
Ometa was known for her pies, which, according to her, is how she “caught” Louie. All potluck dinners at the church were graced with her pies.
She was also active with the VFW Post #10906 Auxiliary, where Louie served as Post Commander for a couple of years.
Ometa was kind and considerate with a wonderful twinkle in her eye. She will be missed.
On Thursday, December 29, 2022, visitation for Ometa is at 10am, with the service at 11am, White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119. The family suggests donations to Fairview Christian Church, 1800 NE 65th Street, KCMO 64118, instead of flowers.
For those who would like to participate but cannot attend in person, Ometa’s service will be on a webcast, so you can stay safe in your home and be a part of it.
