Ray was born June 24, 1937, in Battle Creek, MI. He served in the US Air Force as a pilot for nine years, followed by a twenty-five year career flying for Trans World Airlines. After retiring, he built a workshop, where he created beautiful custom cabinets and furniture gracing the homes of many friends and family. He proudly retired from this hobby with all ten fingers. He became a volunteer at the TWA Museum in 2014, taking a multitude of visitors through the history of his beloved airline. He was an active member of Beth Haven Church and is in heaven today because he believed and accepted God’s free gift of eternal life, paid for by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Ray will be remembered by his family and friends as a thoughtful and devoted husband and father, and as an amazing cook and host.
Ray was preceded in death by Nancy (Lockwood), his high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years; his parents, Earl and Esther Rowe; brother Richard Rowe; and son-in-law David Tucker.
He is survived by children, Pamela Tucker, North Kansas City, MO, Douglas Rowe (Maria) of Richmond, VA, Carolyn Rowe of the home, Jeffrey Rowe (Wanda), Sahuarita, AZ; sisters Helen Sherman, Battle Creek, MI, and Sharon Vernia, Azle, TX; two granddaughters, Teresa (Mark) Street and Stephanie (Eric) Wells; and five great-grandchildren, Alaina, David, Piper, Tyler, and Mia.
A private graveside service with full military honors will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS. A memorial service will be held at Beth Haven Church, 4810 N. Elmwood, Kansas City, MO, 64119, at 11:00 am, Tuesday, December 30, immediately followed by a luncheon.
The family would like to thank the staff of NorthCare Hospice House for their expertise and loving care. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Beth Haven Church or the TWA Museum, 10 Richards Road #110, KCMO, 64116.
