Scott was born on December 9, 1962 in North Kansas City, Missouri to Robert and Shirley Briggs. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1981. He then went to the University of Kansas and graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He was a member of the Beta Theta Phi Fraternity. He moved to New York City and received his Master of Arts from New York University in 1988. He lived in New York City for 30 years with his partner, Howard Froman. He later moved to Wilton Manors, Florida until his passing
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Robert Briggs; cousin, Stephen Overbey; and uncle, Bill Overbey.
Scott is survived by his mother, Shirley Briggs; sister, Susan Moorefield; niece, Lindsay Dunsworth; and nephew, Lance Moorefield and his wife Hannah Moorefield; aunt Louise Overbey; cousins, Jeff and Kim Overbey, Rick and Jane Zelfer, Perrey and Stacey Sprague and several great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 24 from 2 to 3:30pm at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119.
